2009 Intensive Review for the PRAXIS Examination
The NBASLH Convention and the PRAXIS Review Course are held simultaneously. The Convention and Review Course are both held at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta. Registrants of the PRAXIS Review course are welcome to visit the Exhibit Hall and NBASLH social activities. Please note that some activities require an additional registration fee.
The National Black Association for Speech-Language and Hearing (NBASLH) is sponsoring its Annual Review Course in preparation for the PRAXIS II Examination in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. The course has been sponsored since 1988 and is taught by an outstanding faculty of scholars who are experts and/or certified speech-language pathologists and audiologists. The Intensive Review for the PRAXIS Examination was designed to target the topic areas identified by the Educational Testing Service PRAXIS Series as being the content included on the examination. In addition, there will be a special session on strategic test taking and craniofacial anomalies!
The three-day review course will contains sessions on the following topics: Language Acquisition Language Science, Theory and Disorders Phonological Disorders Dysphagia Craniofacial Anomalies and Related Disorders Fluency Disorders Audiology and Hearing Science Speech-Language Assessment Counseling Documentation & Efficacy Voice and Resonance Neurological Disorders Professional Issues AAC Multicultural Awareness Psychometrics/Research Strategic Test Taking
The PRAXIS Review Program Chair is Dr. Michele L. Norman. Each session of the PRAXIS Review is presented by a certified speech-language pathologist or audiologist who is currently in the academic or clinical setting and familiar with the preparation needs for the PRAXIS Examination.
Forum To Review Your Past Praxis Experiences A special forum will be held for individuals who have previously taken the test, but did not receive a passing score. During this forum, several of the PRAXIS faculty will meet with you one-on-one or in small groups to help you analyze where you had difficulty on the test and to help you focus your preparation. This exclusive forum is in addition to the three-hour session on strategic test taking skills specific to the PRAXIS exam. For this forum, you will need to bring the original score report(s) (or double-sided copies) sent to you from PRAXIS. More information on this Special Forum will be emailed prior to the PRAXIS Review.
